As you drive into Bega from the North or the East wonderful lagoons greet the traveller.
Bega is located at the junction of the Bega and Brogo River systems and shares two aquifers from which we draw water for agriculture and town use.
There are many places around town where one can enjoy the tranquility of the lagoons or river sides.
These are places where the weary may rest their eyes and contemplate or take lunch and observe the abundant wildlife that have made the lagoons their home.
Each evening, in season, flocks of birds return to the lagoons for safety and sleep.
Each day sees families of fowl frolicking amongst overhung branches or grubbing for tucker amongst the lillies.
Please be careful as you leave town past our waterways. It is common to see ducks wandering across the roads. We love them all.
