Community Issues

  • Representation of the business community's concerns in meetings with commercial developers submitting development proposals to the Bega Valley Shire, and subsequent provision of feedback on these meetings to the Chamber Membership

  • Coordination of a public meeting on proposed Industrial rezoning in the Bega area

  • Continued lobbying of the Bega Valley Shire Council to improve facilities within Bega

  • Ongoing representation of the Bega Valley Shire Economic Development Committe

  • Chairmanship of the Bega Valley Shire, Combined Chambers Forum

Training, Education and Support

  • Sponsorship in 2004 of a Business Scholarship through the Bega Education Centre

  • Support and involvement in the ANU Medical Students visit to the Bega Valley

  • Co-sponsorship with the State Chamber of Commerceof a special business education seminar featuring guest speakers from the:

    • Australian Taxation office
    • Workcover, and,   
    • The Office of Industrial Relations

Promotion and Recognition


  • Coordination of Community announcements via the 'Welcome to Bega' signs at the northern and southern entrances to Bega

 

  • Sponsorship of the Bega Community Citizen of the Year Award & Junior Citizen of the Year Award

  •  Management and coordinatation of the Bega Tourist Information Centre

Fundraising Events


  • Organise and coordinate special fundraising concert for the Bega Hospital Auxillary, featuring Bega's Australian Idol contestant, Chanel Cole and guest performer Daniel Belle.
