To suggest we are living in strange times is a major understatement, however it is hard to describe it any other way. The business community is being impacted immensely by the Covid 19 lockdown with many closed and many others adapting their operations in order to maintain some sense of normality. There is support available for businesses and individuals impacted by this lockdown and I would encourage any in that position to contact Service NSW. It is now more important than ever to support local business. These same local businesses are the ones who have been sponsoring your local sporting club; give to the many local charities and sponsor the many great fundraising events, and of course provide vital employment to many many people. CUSTOMER SERVICE AND BUSINESS AWARDS One way you can express your support is by nominating your favourite business for an award. Nominations have been flowing in for our Customer Service and Business Awards. There are eighteen categories in all fields of business. Once nominations close our mystery judges will begin the process of narrowing each category down to four or five finalists with the winners to be announced at our Gala event to be held later this year. The Awards night was planned to be held on October 9th but due to the ongoing lock down we have been forced to postpone the event until maybe later in November or early 2022. This has allowed us to extend the nomination period so jump onto begachamber.com.au/csba/ and nominate now, or you can also fill out a nomination form at Mal’s Pizza Bite, Horizon Bank or the Commonwealth Bank. Building a Better Community Work continues on our Economic Development Strategy and over the last couple of weeks we have held discussions with Fling over their need for a new permanent facility and also Tulgeen group about their current and future operations. NGH Consulting are currently pulling together the information gathered and will soon have a draft document for us to consider. Speaking of consultation, Bega Valley Shire Council currently have a number of proposals out for public submission covering a range of issues and we would encourage you to jump onto their website and pass on your comments. The membership of the Bega Chamber continues to grow and this month we have welcomed Bega Motorcycles, Design Lingo, Greg Eastman Electrical, Horizon Bank, Chiropractic Life Bega, and St Hilliers Contracting Pty Ltd. As always, we strive to give our members real value and if you are interested in becoming a member jump onto our website to find out more or apply.
