October 2021 Update

It is great to see the town very busy again. All businesses are open, and some sense of normality is returning. It is nice to see a genuine desire for people to support local business and I would encourage everyone to keep it up. To further encourage local shopping, we are about to launch our Christmas promotion for this year called “Bega’s Christmas Bounty”. First prize will be a whopping $10,000 in Bega Bucks plus other great prizes from our local businesses.

We are all familiar with scanning QR codes now, so entry will be by scanning the QR code at participating businesses when you make a purchase and simply fill in a few details. The winners will be drawn from the barrel on Friday the 17th of December during our late-night shopping event in Carp Street. We will have paper entries available as well for those that do not have smartphones.
The promotion will kick off next week so keep an out for the entry sheet when shopping.

If you’d like to participate in this promotion and haven’t signed up already, please contact us via the link below:   I’d Like My Business To Be A Part of Your Christmas Promotion

This week will be your last chance to nominate an individual or business for an award in our Customer Service and Business Awards. This Friday the 5th of November will see nominations close, with the finalists announced in every category on Friday the 12th of November. Our mystery judges will then narrow it down to a winner and runners-up in each category, with the winners announced at our Gala event on Saturday February 26th.
If you wish to put in a nomination, the easiest way is to click on the link below, or you can also fill out a nomination form at Mal’s Pizza Bite, 2EC & Power FM, Horizon Bank or the Commonwealth Bank.
Tickets to the awards will go on sale after the finalist have been announced.   Nominate Here   Chamber Win
Speaking of awards, Business NSW stage a business awards each year with a number of categories and the Bega Chamber was immensely proud to be a finalist for the Best Chamber in Southeast NSW. This is a testament to the hard work of the executive team to be named as a finalist with the eventual winner being Goulburn Chamber of Commerce with Cooma also being announced as a finalist.
Economic Development Strategy
Our much-anticipated economic development strategy document is almost finished with the finishing touches being added before printing in the next week or two.
The Chamber has consulted with many individuals and organisations about their dreams and vision for the future. We trust that this document will pinpoint exactly where we are now and set the direction for our future as a community and we look forward to making it public.
