Bega Chamber – November Executive Meeting

Bega Chamber of Commerce and Industry held its regular executive meeting on Wednesday 11 November, all 10 executives attended, following is a summary of some of the items discussed.

Tathra Beach Surf Lifesavers

Over the last number of years, the Tathra Business community have joined forces to provide funding for the extension of Surf Life Saving Services throughout February. The Lifesavers are paid by BVSC through January but not February. The Bega Chamber of Commerce has also provided financial support for this initiative and have agreed to contribute for the upcoming Summer season.

Economic Development Sub Committee

The Economic Development team from the Chamber met recently with Council representatives, details of the meeting has been published on our web site under “Economic Development Gains Momentum” news post.

Industrial Land

The Chamber strongly believe Bega’s development is being stifled by the lack of available Industrial land. We presented several cases where businesses were desperately wanted to expand and other businesses wanting to establish themselves here.

Small Business Month Event

It was agreed that the event at Peanuts Eatery on 28 October was a great success, the venue and food made it a fun networking event and the attendance of our Mayor and Federal Member by Zoom provided interesting conversation on a range of topics. 4 new members were signed up on the night.

Upcoming events

The Chamber is holding a Christmas party for its members on Friday the 4th of December at the Grand Hotel. This will be a family event and kicks off at 6:00pm. We will fire up the Barbie and there will be a special visit from Santa on the night.
