Bega, A Beautiful Place to Live and a Great Place to Do Business.
Welcome to Bega Chamber of Commerce and Industry
Bega is the home of Local Government, Health, Education, Finance and Shopping in our region, it is also home and origin of Bega Cheese, the region’s largest employer.
Set in a valley at the junction of the Bega and Brogo rivers and surrounded by rich dairy country, Bega is a handsome, historic town that’s the rural centre of the Sapphire Coast and gateway to the lush Bega Valley. The traditional inhabitants the Djiringanj, Thaua, Bidawahal and Ngarigo tribal groups comprised the Yuin–Monaro nation in the area now known as the Bega Valley Shire.

Clearly the bushfires, and now the Coronavirus have thrown some new challenges at us this year. Your Chamber have been meeting and advocating with all levels of Governments through this time including two roundtable meetings at Parliament House in Canberra along with the Bega Valley Shire Council on a regular basis.
To help explain possible assistance announced this week by the federal Government we have Fiona Dunham CA who is a director from Kothes Accountants joining us for the meeting.
We also have a fantastic Easter promotion that is launching that we are excited to tell you all about.
Response to current bushfires on the South Coast.
The Bega Chamber of Commerce and Industry recognise the severe impact the current bushfires are having on us as local businesses. For those that have been impacted directly from the fires it is terribly heartbreaking, some will never recover. For most of us although not directly struck by the fires the impact is also huge. I know from my own business the slump in sales is massive and we have no idea how long it will last.
The Bega Chamber Executive have come up with a three pronged approach to help us get through this difficult time. We believe that right now the best way we can support you is to provide information on business support and recovery resources, links are included below – feel free to share and forward to your colleagues.
As we become aware of other assistance we will pass those details on.We can also assist in elevating the urgent issues many face in affected areas to government. Feel free to contact us if we can support you in this way.
