A Community-Led Plan for Bega’s Future
What is the McKee Drive site?
The former Bega District Hospital site at 1 McKee Drive, Bega (approx. 2.5 hectares) has remained unused since the South East Regional Hospital opened in 2016.
This centrally located, publicly owned land presents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to deliver vital infrastructure that meets the growing needs of the Bega Valley community.
Why does this matter?
Our community is facing increasing pressure from:
- Shortage of affordable housing
- Limited youth, arts and cultural facilities
- Long childcare waiting lists
- Growing demand for health and support services
- Lack of education and training spaces
At the same time, a major site in the heart of town is sitting empty.
