Welcome Experience

Much has been spoken of in the media about new recruits coming from the United Kingdom to work for Southern Area Health. This is terrific for our area and will make a positive difference particularly at the South East Regional Hospital. It has also created lots of work for our team in welcoming them to the Bega Valley as we help them to settle in and feel at home.

Community Improvements

Last month we called for expressions of interest from the community to form a committee to tackle bringing about improvements to the look of the town especially the CBD. It is pleasing to have eight people come forward to help out and we will be getting together over the next couple of weeks to set a path forward. Obviously, it is not too late, if you are interested in helping then please drop us a line.

Networking night

Our first networking event for the year was held last Wednesday the 21st of February. As always the Civic Centre provided a nice venue and some very tasty canapes and drinks. Our guest speakers for the evening were Corinne Gibbons who shared her life journey as a musician, and recent experience of travelling to COP 28 and conducting the world’s largest youth choir. We also heard from John Reynolds on the progress of the restoration of the Old Old Hospital and the excitement that is building with the completion of the new roof.

Coming Events

The Chamber Executive met last week for a planning meeting and have agreed on a number of key events for the year ahead including three retail promotions at Easter, Spring and Christmas.

It is also planned to stage the Bega Customer service awards later in the year.

There will be networking events roughly every five weeks and the Annual meeting in July.

Other items discussed included, pursuing the leasing of an office space. Sponsorship of School awards and updating of the Chambers vision statement.

Speaking of coming events there will be another great workshop on succession planning for your business. This workshop guides you through the process for setting up a succession plan, tools and activities to implement your plan, and finally, benchmarking and evaluation procedures for your business. The workshop will be held on Friday 1 March from 9:30-11:30 at the Merimbula RSL. If you need further information please reach out to us.
